The madness of capitalism

Last year there were about 6 million homeless in the US. At the moment about 5 million Americans face imminent foreclosure and many will end on the streets if that happens. There are 18 million empty homes. The solution seems obvious, doesn’t it? Let the homeless live in the empty dwellings. Instead there is a serious proposal to bulldoze (some of) these empty homes and rebuild them. True! Isn’t capitalism wonderful? When the choice is between meeting human needs or making profit, profit wins every time.
