Bill Shankly was the greatest Liverpool Football Club coach ever. Here is his view on life.
‘The socialism I believe in is everybody working for the same goal and everybody having a share in the rewards. That’s how I see football, that’s how I see life.’

Thanks STT. While it is true we have different individual desires and motivations, most motivations are based on a super motivation, to get a job and live adequately.
So I think you can generalise on class lines. Workers interests are for jobs and good living conditions; the bosses interests are profit.
Indeed it may be that this motivation for profit warps all our other human motivations.
The common gaol for workers is a society in which they have jobs and good living conditions, a society I envisage of democracy and production to satisfy human need.

So what’s the common goal? In football, it’s obvious – put the ball in the net more times than the opposition. In life, it ain’t that simple. We all have different motivations and desires.
