Canberra Labor – the political gay bashing continues

The ACT minority Labor Government is about to reject a Greens motion to legalise same sex marriage.
They are going to vote against their own policy – a policy they took to the last election – because they don’t want to upset Kevin Rudd and the other reactionaries.
CPSU affiliation to Canberra Labor has proved useless, as has gay Minister Andrew Barr who is using the Peter Garrett defence – ‘solidarity’.
Shame, Labor, shame.
Only a concerted and militant campaign drawing in more and more people – as the National Day of Action for gay marriage did because socialists like Socialist Alternative organised and built it – will force the conservative Labor Party in Canberra to legalise gay marriage.
Pehaps we could start with a joyful celebration of gay marriage at Andrew Barr’s forthcoming civil ceremony with his partner?
