Send Barnaby to Indonesia
It is a pity that Barnaby Joyce, a man of tact, diplomacy, nuance and subtlety, isn’t going to Indonesia to fix things up. I know I am disappointed that Barnaby is missing out on this great opportunity, and I am sure the Indonesians feel the same way. [Sarcasm alert.] (0)

John Pilger to speak at Marxism 2010

The left event of the year in Australia  – Marxism 2010 – will be held over 4 days this Easter in Melbourne. World -renowned investigative journalist John Pilger will speak (as he did in 2009).

In addition to John there are speakers from the US, South Africa, China and Palestine as well as a range of Australian speakers.

As the website says:

Marxism 2010 is a 4 day conference to be held in Melbourne over the 2010 Easter weekend, bringing together hundreds of socialists and other left-wing activists from across Australia.

Marxism 2010 features international guest speakers from the US, Palestine, China, South Africa and elsewhere. But that is only a part of the event.

There will be more than 60 sessions over the weekend, on topics ranging from radical history to the fight for women’s and GLBTI liberation, imperialism and the Middle East, the global economic crisis and workers’ struggles today.

I like your human aspirations and especially John Pilger’s but not necessarily your economic philosophies.

There is one thing we all have in common and that is the smashing of this totalitarian US regiem of corporates, that threatens the very existance of the planet.

We fought the nazi /facists 70 yrs ago and now they are back in the shape of corporatism. On this issue I’m in solidarity with you and John Pilger.
