Occupy Wall Street has energized growing numbers of people to take a stand against corporate greed and power, and as the movement grows–along with the threats of police repression, as colder weather sets in–so, too, do the questions and possibilities for the struggle to take up.
The Battle of Cable Street, which took place 75 years ago this week, was a key moment in anti-fascist history when mass working class resistance stopped the Blackshirts. It holds vital lessons in the fight against fascism today. Revolutionary socialists must organise in the broadest possible way within the working class.
We must also be prepared to physically stop the fascists from gaining control of the streets.
