The government is visibly rattled. It has to face a vote in parliament on the cuts. All the strikers are expecting that unions will call them out again when that vote is set.

Left Action has helped stop the Liberals winning control of the Curtin University Guild. The ticket won President, Education Vice-President, Women’s Officer, Queer Officer, 4 Guild councillors and 3 delegates to the National Union of Students. Left Action look forward to a year of fighting course cuts, PAYG parking and involving students in social justice campaigns.

There will be a perfunctory investigation into the Australian soldiers’ facebook page and its threats against Australian Muslims, a bit of tutting about a few rotten apples, maybe even a sacrificial lamb or two and then it will be back to business killing Muslims. The systemic racism of the armed forces will be white washed over.
