Time for a House Un-Australian Activities Committee?

Send Barnaby to Indonesia
It is a pity that Barnaby Joyce, a man of tact, diplomacy, nuance and subtlety, isn’t going to Indonesia to fix things up. I know I am disappointed that Barnaby is missing out on this great opportunity, and I am sure the Indonesians feel the same way. [Sarcasm alert.] (0)

ASIO and the fascists

So why hasn’t ASIO been all over those Australian Defence League idiots who have been in court a couple of times in the last week? These are the people who went into Lakemba in Sydney trying to incite racist violence against Muslims. No ASIO raids, no Prime Minister on TV mentioning their chatter. It is not as if their incitement is secretive.

Oh I forgot. They aren’t Muslims. They are white, and probably parade as Christians. These soldiers of white racism and Islamophobia serve an important function for Abbott et al. They are part of his agenda of fear – against Muslims, against asylum seekers, against the unemployed. So ASIO will do nothing to rein these terrorists in.

The real question is why anybody in Australia should be arrested for offending a religion.

“Don’t come in here and provoke us and insult us and insult our prophet,” is how one Muslim put it.

It seems that we now have blasphemy laws again in Australia.

Of course, such laws only protect the Islamic religion, people are always free to insult the Christian prophet.

Inciting violence remains a crime. So too is actually indulging in it.

So if an atheist insults Jesus and I beat him up, then the atheist would be committing a crime?

At the rate things are going, together with Coalition policies to financially and emotionally punish those for whom no work exists, Tony Abbott certainly has good reason to fear the unemployed.

A civil uprising against the government might actually unite people of all races and religions in their mutual quest to put food on the table and a roof over their families’ heads.
