Removing all doubt, Mr Abbott?

Detention without trial, torture and other crimes are what happens, Prime Minister, when you remove ‘the benefit of the doubt’. Remember David Hicks, Mamdouh Habib and Muhamed Haneef?

That is the point isn’t it Mister Abbott? Just another tightening of the screws on freedom and threats to jail people you don’t like without due process  because they are, in you words, and without proof, ‘up to no good’. All to ratchet up fear.

[…] Remember David Hicks, Mamdouh Habib and  Muhamed Haneef.  Remember David Eastman. Remember the tens of thousands of asylum seekers and their children we lock up for no crime. Remember all the Aborigines our rulers imprison and our police silence. […]

And of course, lets forget the Bali bombings, Martin place, 9/11, Spain train bombings, kidnappings, beheadings, rapes, child brides, London bombings and all the other INNOCENT victims who have died or been maimed, because we have to give the benefit of the doubt.

Hey, guess what, I’m a law abiding citizen and have travelled the world and not once did I commit a crime or even think about committing a crime and I have not gone to jail ever!

How can this be???? By your logic I should have been imprisoned a long time ago.

Hicks was a traitor, he got caught and did his time, now leave him be.

Hicks has never been convicted of anything. If he was a traitor why didn’t Howard have him charged under our laws? Why avoid Australian laws? Because that would have revealed he wasn’t a traitor. Is holding someone in prison for 5 and a half years and torturing them because they were up to no good (according to Tony Abbott, substituting as a court) what a law abiding government does? Do you believe in the rule of law Brian?
