Voting for Labor as the lesser evil

Let’s move beyond this fake ‘they’ll be worse than us’ debate. Labor is just another party of neoliberalism and its warmongering and years of attacks on workers, the poor and refugees have opened the door for Abbott to do the same.

Asylum seekers: a letter for Andrew Leigh MP

If Canberra readers want to show the Labor Party how disgusted they are with the ALP’s disgraceful and racist PNG policy, I would urge you to join me and hundred of others at 12 pm on Saturday at Woden Square (end of Furzer St, next to PO & MLC /Lovett Tower) at a demonstration in defence of refugees called by the Canberra Refugee Action Committee.

We will be marching to a nearby ACT ALP conference to let Andrew Leigh and the other members of the Party know we strongly oppose this disgusting policy.

Canberra Times ignores hundreds of Uni students protesting against cuts

Local labor member and former ANU Professor Andrew Leigh, in justifying Labor’s massive higher education cuts to the large group of student protesters, fell back on that old furphy that things would be worse under Abbott. That’s like the python who is squeezing us to death warning us to beware of the tiger lurking nearby. In fact Labor’s attacks lay the groundwork for possible attacks by the Liberals in the future.┬áSuch is the degeneration of the ALP that the Liberals agree with Labor’s current cuts to higher education. The way to fight Abbott’s neoliberalism is to fight Gillard and Leigh’s neoliberalism.
