From Australia’s concentration camps on Manus and Nauru the brutal treatment of children spreads here

The brutal treatment of asylum seeker children in detention centres dehumanises us all and makes sections of society in positions of some power more likely to abuse kids in Australia. The fight against child abuse in Australia has to include the fight against child abuse of those under our care on Manus Island and Nauru.

The Manus Solution – Four Corners

This is powerful investigative reporting from the ABC’s Four Corners on the Manus ‘solution’. Watch this 45 minutes of sheer hell about what our Governments do to asylum seekers. Here is the link to the Four Corners report.

Who killed Reza Berati?

Who killed Reza Berati? Let’s make this brilliant Phil Monsour song number one in Australia.

Close down the Manus Island detention centre

Close down these detention centre concentration camps. Bring the asylum seekers from Indonesia and Malaysia to Australia for processing while they live in the community. Hope, not fear. Love, not hate. Refugees, not racists.

To see that happen will require a Herculean effort on our part since the Abbott government has gone murderously on the attack against refugees. We must therefore fight back strongly in their defence. The first steps to do that are demonstrations in Sydney and Melbourne. Others will be announced soon and posted when I have details. Join us in the fight to defend refugees and by extension all those who will come under attack from this rotten viciously ruling class government.

Asylum seekers: it is right to rebel

I send my solidarity and support to the brave freedom fighters on the Manus Island concentration camp resisting the crimes of the Australian Government. It is right and just to rebel against such tyranny.

No Christmas joy on Manus Island

For the 130 Afghan, Iranian, Iraqi and Sri Lankan refugees on Manus Island, Papua New Guinea, this Christmas season is an uphill battle to keep spirits up in a grim environment writes Socialist Alternative. On Christmas Day most Australian children wake up to a morning of opening presents; the 15 children on Manus Island wake up to a vastly different reality: their daily malaria pill. In this remote tropical island without air conditioning, adequate medical treatment, or privacy, the best gift the Australian government could give asylum seekers this festive season is the most basic and simple of all: freedom.

Close down your refugee concentration camps Julia Gillhoward

Labor plans ten years’ detention on Nauru or Manus Island for people who have committed no crime. All they have done is seek asylum.

In the age of truth telling we used to call these types of places concentration camps. It is time for that truth to be told again.

Close down your concentration camps Julia Gillhoward.
