Get this John. Our Bank's derivative investments are now $20 trillion or 13 times our GDP.They call it insurance but is really a form of gambling using our mortgages as collateral.

Just a 1% tax on their derivatives will yeild the Govt $200 billion in revenue. This represents over $18,000 in tax for every working person.

Why is there not a super profits tax on banks?

Precisely who are these "people and parties coming out of the stalinoid tradition".

How was this reflected in the public meeting on Thursday?

The resources boom is coming to an end.Once China gets the infrastructure of rail and road facilities in Africa ready, they will dictate prices to our suppliers here.

There will be less tax and workers wages in these industries will be much lower. It would not surprise me if an Abbott Govt will allow cheap foreign labour in here so our mining industry can compete with African suppliers.

The only solution is for the Aust Govt to start creating new money for growth like the Private Central Bankers do.Govts should never have to go into debt.It should written into all constitutions that Govts be never allowed to borrow.

Hmm. Some decent points, many points that are not correct.
Yes, we need to improve access all the way through the community, including transport, education, health etc.
But your focus on health suggests that you read disability as a health issue. For some people it is. For many others it is not.
If the NDIS is similar to the Individual Support Packages in Victoria - and all evidence suggests it will be quite similar indeed - there is significant choice. The intermediaries are only used if they are necessary, and for many that is a perfectly valid choice.
For those who don't need them, they receive direct funding and manage their own affairs.
There is much more to this scheme than you have reflected here.

Lorry, it was written by John Mullen who lives in France. And has for many years. I think it is a combination of factors but the French left's idolisation of laicité - secularism - at the expense of all other tenets can become racism in practice. The ban on headscarves for example. That feeds into general racism, so yes I think you are right.

Good article John, you know alot about France!
Just one thing though, shouldn't we equate current islamophobia in France with, simply, French racism and obsession with monoculture?
As we equate the anti-boat people sentiment with Australian racism, the white Australia policy etc etc?

I don't know if France islamophobia can so easily be passed off as historical anti religious feelings ...
