Send Barnaby to Indonesia
It is a pity that Barnaby Joyce, a man of tact, diplomacy, nuance and subtlety, isn’t going to Indonesia to fix things up. I know I am disappointed that Barnaby is missing out on this great opportunity, and I am sure the Indonesians feel the same way. [Sarcasm alert.] (0)

5 dead kids in Afghanistan

Australian troops killed 5 children in Afghanistan. There will be lots of talk about ‘rules of engagement’ and the Taliban hiding among civilians (sound familiar?) We will, after the perfunctory investigation, pay the families compensation.

What can compensate a family for the killing of their kids? I am sure they’ll be pleased to know it was all within the rules of engagement.

The simple fact remains we killed five kids in Afghanistan. Why are we there? We wouldn’t be killing kids if we pulled our troops out.

Our Government has troops in Afghanistan as part of an insurance policy with US imperialism to protect our own imperialism. It is why we also had troops in Iraq – we still do – and support Israel in its perpetration of war crimes in Palestine. The struggle in Australia in support of the Palestinians and Afghans is the struggle against US and Australian imperialism.

If we want to break from US control, our only real solution is to go for nuclear weapons.

The other partial solution is to have a population well trained in arms and have them readily available at the local police station if an invasion does occur. One of the factors that will stop an invasion of the US or a take over by a totalitarian Govt there, is that the civilian pop is well armed.

We need nuclear weapons to defend ourselves from the American terrorists who just took over the government.

Juan ,China could invade Aust as a moments notice. They could muster a million troops easily.Once invaded there is little that US or Europe could do little to help us.We would have a hard time defending ourselves against Indonesia.Iraq and Vietnam have shown that it is soldiers on the ground with weapons that has superiority over technology. We will never get China out of Tibet.
Things can change very quickly. The financial crisis has destabilised the world and when Govts have internal strife ,they often look to aggression to unite their countries. We don’t have the pop to protect ourselves with conventional weapons.Nuclear would be the cheapest solution.Mutual Assured Destruction.MAD.
Presently in Afghanistan they want to build a 1500 km oil pipeline from the north to the south thus accessing oil from several countries.
Invading Afghanistan is not just about terrorists.Obama is just a figure head and he will do as he is told by the central banks and the large Corporates.
