Send Barnaby to Indonesia
It is a pity that Barnaby Joyce, a man of tact, diplomacy, nuance and subtlety, isn’t going to Indonesia to fix things up. I know I am disappointed that Barnaby is missing out on this great opportunity, and I am sure the Indonesians feel the same way. [Sarcasm alert.] (0)

Indigenous Activist Barbara Shaw speaks out against Racist Northern Territory Land Grab

Barbara Shaw, an Indigenous activist from Mt Nancy, Mparntwe (Alice Springs) and leading member of the Intervention Rollback Action Group will be speaking at the upcoming Marxism 2009 conference at Melbourne University in a session titled Northern Territory Intervention: The latest land grab.

Barbara Shaw is an active opponent of the Northern Territory Intervention from within a prescribed community. Barbara Shaw has actively asserted Indigenous rights to self determination, commenting: `I don’t want to be controlled by a government department. They don’t know my situation at home, how many mouths I’ve got to feed. There are a lot of parents out there like this.’

`Life is harder now for me and many others living under the Northern Territory Intervention. Rudd is using information being fed to him by Jenny Macklin, and her evidence about what is working is flawed.’

Barbara Shaw will be expressing the Indigenous voice that has so far been ignored by the mainstream media. This session will be highlighting the active opposition Indigenous communities are showing to Rudd’s racist Northern Territory land grab.

Barbara will be speaking as part of the Marxism 2009 conference at Melbourne University on Friday the 10th of April.
