Send Barnaby to Indonesia
It is a pity that Barnaby Joyce, a man of tact, diplomacy, nuance and subtlety, isn’t going to Indonesia to fix things up. I know I am disappointed that Barnaby is missing out on this great opportunity, and I am sure the Indonesians feel the same way. [Sarcasm alert.] (0)

Barack Obama is a war criminal

Barack Obama is a war criminal.  His drones last week killed 147 people in Western Afghanistan, most of them women and children.

According to Pakistan’s Daily Times:

Farah province Deputy Governor Yunus Rasooli told Reuters that residents of the village of Geraani had provided 90 names and residents of neighbouring Ganj Abad village another 57.

Obama’s drones in Pakistan killed over 30 women and children two weeks ago.

The US puppets in Pakistan, at Obama’s urging, are at this very moment killing hundreds of innocents in the North West Frontier Province, and the death toll will soon hit the thousands.

Half a million have fled the Pakistani army invasion.  The fighting is so bad that some have actually gone into Afghanistan.

One Pakistani newspaper has been publishing a score card of death.

Before the Pakistan army invaded the North West Frontier Province this week, the scorecard read 14 Taliban killed, 700 civilians murdered.

While hardly scientific, based on these figures, for every dead Talibani (more likely a fighter against the foreign invaders and their quislings) there are 50 civilians the US and it puppets have to murder.

Given this 50 to one ratio, and the fact that there are thousands of Pakistani Taliban (an oversimplification, but one that will do for these purposes), the US and its war criminal friends will have to kill half a million Pakistanis to destroy the ‘terrorists’.

The real point is that they will kill that many if they have too. Certainly US imperialism had no compunction in killing millions of Vietnamese, Laotians and Cambodians.

And this cancer of imperialist war in Afghanistan and Pakistan is little different to Vietnam.

Obama will kill women and children to protect US profits and the dominance of US capitalism around the  world.

But of course, every civilian death turns someone neutral into a sympathiser of the Taliban, if not a recruit.

Obama runs the most efficient killing machine in the world, a machine funded by the incredible wealth US workers create and US bosses then steal.

It is to defend this corrupt system that the US – no matter who is President – runs the world in its interests.

That’s why the US spends as much on its military as the next 16 nations combined do.

It doesn’t matter if it is George W Bush or Barack Obama who is the Commander in Chief of terror.  The logic of US imperialism drives the President to kill people round the world to protect US profits.

As Thomas Friedman (one of the most influential journalists in the US) wrote many years ago in his book The Lexus and the Olive Tree:

The hidden hand of the market will never work without a hidden fist. McDonald’s cannot flourish without McDonnell Douglas, the designer of the U.S. Air Force F-15. And the hidden fist that keeps the world safe for Silicon Valley’s technologies to flourish is called the U.S. Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps.

Obama is the representative of one wing of the US ruling class which sees Government bailouts and restructuring of US and world capitalism as the way forward.  This faction wants a State managed process of creative destruction.

The other faction wants the process to be a  free for all – let the market rip and any business, big or small, collapse.

But both factions are united in their aim to use the US military to keep the US as the dominant world power.

The stalemate of defeat in Iraq has undermined confidence among the US ruling class that it can impose its will on anyone it wishes.

That’s one reason why Obama has decided to increase troops in Afghanistan.

That, and encircling China, putting Iran on the defensive and increasing Indian influence in the area are strategic US goals.  This means they must, and will, kill non-combatants (a cover for men, women and children who are not fighting.)

Killing innocent people doesn’t worry the US ruling class at all in achieving their goals.

This is a war that the US cannot win.  Its war will and is expanding into Pakistan.  Some form of islamist rule in Afghanistan and parts of Pakistan seems the only outcome of US imperialism’s wars in the area.

My articles Afghanistan: the next Vietnam? and Pakistan: the new frontier in the war on terror? deal with various aspects of the ongoing expansion of US killing in the region. My article ‘Barack Obama is not Jesus Christ’ presages some of the discussion here.

Almost fifty years ago another King Arthur captured the hearts of many liberal Americans.

Yet it was John Kennedy who began the troop build up in Vietnam and whose successor, Johnson, carried it to its fruition – the deaths of fifty thousands US solders, massive social unrest and ultimate defeat.

As Marx wrote in the Eighteenth Brumaire of Louis Napoleon:

Hegel remarks somewhere that all great world-historic facts and personages appear, so to speak, twice. He forgot to add: the first time as tragedy, the second time as farce.

The logic of US imperialism drives Obama to kill innocent people around the world.

Many people will die before the war criminal and the system he runs is beaten or at least forced back into its lair for a few years.

But there is hope.  Obama’s election has created real expectations of change among millions of Americans.

Obama is the pin up boy of the traditional US left – people who in other countries would be on the right wing of social democracy or members of various liberal parties.

As the quagmire of war in Iraq and now Afghanistan and Pakistan draws the US inexorably under, that left will split.  Many will support US imperialism and Obama. Some will question why the US kills people all around the world.

Obama as the Commander in Chief of terror and overseer of wage slavery will not be able to meet the expectations of millions of Americans and some will shift to the left in seeking answers.

If the revolutionary left can help build an anti-war movement then that movement could become a focus for leftward moving people and force Obama to bring his troops home.

Already comrades in the US are reporting that for the first time in years they can actually discuss the ideas of socialism from below without being dismissed as cranks.

The US labour movement is showing some small signs of resistance to Obama’s neoliberal Keynesianism. Certainly there is real working class anger over using working people’s money to bail out rich bankers.

The US working class holds the key to the liberation of humanity.  Building a mass anti-war movement there will be one step towards our freedom.

Then we will be able to put Obama and Bush on trial for their war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Obama will prove to be more destructive than George Bush and daddy because of his messiah status. No one wants to hear a bad word about him.Obama is a puppet of the Corporate elites.

JFK was the last good president in the US.Those who followed soon learnt their place.

I can understand their occupation in Afghanistan in wanting the oil pipeline, but why Pakistan? Is this just another diversion? When the real trouble begins at home, the US will go into serious war in order to control it’s own people. Why does Obama want civilian army, just as strong, just as powerful and well equiped as the regular army?

Go to youtube and see the Obama youth groups in their jungle greens chanting Obama ‘s praises in a conger line rap adoration. It reminds me of Adolph Hitler.

Vietnam was a war they didn’t want to win.It is not about winning the war but prolonging it.Those who produce the weapons, need a market,so they need skirmishes around the planet in order to sell them. They justify this as population control.

The Global Reserve Banking System loans cyber money to Govts who in turn buy from arms dealers. So both these interest groups traverse the planet stirring up trouble. They play one group off against another. The US supported the Taliban against the USSR and now are fighting them. They created Saddham Husssien and then killed him.It is all a big game of power and money.

Pol Pot was supported by the US,he killed one million of his own people and 2 million died of disease and poverty.

The Global Reserve Banking Systems are the pariahs of our common humanity.During WW1 and WW2 they financed both sides of these wars.

They don’t give a stuff about left ,right communism etc.The end game is power and money.Morals and ethics like religion, are the opium and delusion of the masses .

The New World Order about which Bush,Kissenger and many others talk about will not be about democracy and liberty but Global enslavement.
