Saturday’s socialist speak out

The G20 is meeting to decide how to divide up the world. The US is reasserting itself as the dominant power in the region and encircling China. Australia’s Labor Party and its so-called ‘left’ have jumped into bed with US imperialism in its latest high stake game of putting China back in the box. A trade war of sorts is being fought out through printing money – the US – and a controlled currency – China. The High Court in Australia has decided asylum seekers are in fact entitled to basic legal rights contradicting¬†everything Labor and the Liberals want to do.¬† If you want to talk abut any of these issues or anything else, hit the comments button.

I would still prefer to live under so called US dominance or hegemony that China’s. Go into any bookstore or Google site and you will see democracy in action. There are thousands of works exposing the follies and corruption of US administrations, in fact a free open open press brought down Nixon and led to the end of the war in Vietnam.

We know of the horrors in Iraq and Afghanistan because western media are there, embedded and freelance. Compare this with China, where workers have no freedoms. Where the Tibetans are victims of genocide. Where whole areas a destroyed for the bloody Olympic Games and a chance for China to show how Western it is.

That doesn’t excuse the US Mr Passant, but I prefer to live under their imperfect capitalist open society than in China or modern day Russia, where reporters are killed or beaten up, where organized crime runs the country and Putin can move from President to Prime Minister and now most likely back to President with impunity.

Ah, choose your overlords eh Walter? Me, I prefer freedom from both dictatorial imperialisms. The Chinese working class has an historic responsibility claim its freedom and in doing so move beyond he limits of bourgeois democracy to real democracy.

Yes, but the Chinese have a history of oppression, genocide and brutal repression. Communist china has been just as brutal as the previous regime, and nothing suggests they will ever be a free society.

Sadly John, no socialist or communist country has ever existed that was not based on repression, state sponsored terror and press restrictions.

The US and Aust, Canada, NZ (not UK – they are true colonialists) are about as free and open societies as you and I are ever likely to see. Can you tell me of other countries that are more tolerant of dissent and open of political opposition?

By no means perfect or even ideal, but there is a reason I suggest that you live in Australia and write this blog. You would not be able to do so in China, Cuba, mist middle east countries, most of africa etc.

Walter have a look at this ; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImdqZTONdpM
FEMA detention camps are over the USA.Their purpose is to detain US citizens in cases of emergency.Do you think China or Russia could be worse?

Comment from Walter
Time November 14, 2010 at 7:41 pm

Oh come off it Arjay. Are you seriously likening FEMA to what the Chinese or Soviets have done? Have you ever read anything about Gulags or what has happened to the Tibetan people?

I am always amazed at Australians who rely on the freedoms and open media of the US to attack it for it’s failings, but ignore the fact that there is no such access to free reporting in many socialist, communist and fascist countries.

The US has powerful trade unions, it has a thriving alternative media, it has a black President, it has elections that are only occasionally rigged.

I am sure that millions of Chinese, Russians, Cubans and others would welcome these rights. Isn’t that why so many people flee these oppressive regimes and come to countries like the USA and its lackey Australia?

Comment from John
Time November 14, 2010 at 8:30 pm

As no doubt would the imprisoned people’s of South America and the Caribbean, of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Palestine etc etc. Oh hang on the US imprisons these nations through its support of their dictators or the occupiers.

Comment from John
Time November 14, 2010 at 8:48 pm

Or perhaps the 1 million dead in Iraq as a consequence of the US invasion might be cause for celebration; or the tens of thousands of civilians we have killed in Afghanistan; or the 2 million the US war machine killed in Vietnam… Or the 3000 dead in the days after the US backed coup in Chile on September 11.
US imperialism is a brutal killing machine.

Comment from Arjay
Time November 14, 2010 at 11:06 pm

Walter the USA is losing it’s constitution and freedoms ever since 911.Preventative detention, you can be detained indefinitly without legal recourse on the grounds of crimes you might commit.See ‘Fall of the Republic ‘ by Alex Jones.you can get off youtube or I can send you a copy. This is corporate facism just like Germany pre WW2.Time to wake up Walter.

Comment from Walter
Time November 15, 2010 at 7:34 am

Arjay, I honestly think your last comment is offensive and so ill-informed as to be laughable. The US is NOTHING like pre WW 2 Germany! Are there laws banning certain religious types from holding office? no. Are there laws banning black people from holding executive positions … ahh, see President Obama? is there state sponsored killings of the physically and mentally disabled? No. Is there universal conscription? No. Is there a free press? Yes. Is there unrestricted travel? Yes. Is there a parliament with transparency and scrutiny of legislation? Yes.

And by the way Arjay and John, if you so despite US emperialism and agression, i presume you would have preferred they had remained neutral during WW2? Can I take it from your anti-US vitriol that you would have wanted the Japanese to over run the Pacific, for D-Day never to have happened and for Nazi German to have defeated your beloved Russia?

You cannot cherry pick guys. If you are against the US as an oppressor, then by your own logic you are for the oppressed – the Japanese and the Germans.

And I pressume you opposed the intervention in Kosovo?

Comment from John
Time November 15, 2010 at 8:21 pm

Revolutionary defeatism means you call for the defeat of your ruling class and comrades in other combatant countries the defeat of their ruling classes.

Yes I opposed ‘humanitarian intervention’ in Kosovo because as Iraq and Afghanistan show these are fig leaves for imperialist reasons.

BTW, Arjay is not a socialist and his comments about fascism in the US are something I disagree completely with.
But why do you pick and choose Walter. Where is your campaign for the US to invade Saudi Arabia, China, etc to impose human rights and save the women etc etc or whatever the lie is today.
And if you want to read some of the greatest analysis of fascism and how to fight it before it gets a toe hold in society read Trotsky. His warnings about the Nazis form 1928 are prescient and insightful and explain using Marxism the real threat these animals posed.

Comment from Walter
Time November 16, 2010 at 7:21 am

I totally agree actually John. The US should have invaded Saudi Arabia (and not Iraq). The Sadi’s are an abhorrent regime. Women cannot vote or even drive cars. They are a dictatorship who repress dissidents and restrict freedoms. they foster terror, so yes, you are right about this.

China is just so complex. Too big, too many people, but how do you stop the genociden against the Tibetans and the torture and murder of dissidents? I would argue trade restrictions and economic embargies, but the West is too addicted to cheap Chainese goods.

It’s certainly not an easy problem and yes, I do pick and choose as do many of us. I cannot agree about Kosovo however. there are times, like this and WW2, when we have to act to defeat evil and terror.

John when the US Govt tries to subjuate its own people via the false flag attacks of 911 ,that is facism. The US people just think they have democracy.

It is all starting to come out now.http://ae911truth.com/ is now reaching main stream media. The elites can longer deny the forensic ,scientific facts.

Both Obama anBush are puppets of the US Federal Reserve and it’s cronies. They have started wars and depressions in the past and are doing it again. This is facism when the oligarchs usurp our democracy.
We live in a demockracy.

Comment from Walter
Time November 17, 2010 at 6:10 pm

I find Arjay’s comments truly sick. Only someone who is ideologically blind or ignorant could dispute that the attacks on the US on 9/11 was carried out by bin Laden. He claimed responsibility, many times. What, is he and the Taliban lying. Read The Looming Tower if you need to understand their history Arjay.

Your argument about subjugation could be turned around equally. The Arab world deserves to be invaded and conquered because it’s rulers deny freedom of expression and associated. Sadam massacred the Kurds, the Jordanians have systematically killed and betrayed the Palestinians, Syria is a repressive regime, Saudi Arabia denies women basic rights, Yemen stones to death people seeking love and so on….

And where are the rights of the Cubans, the Chinese, the Russians, the congalese and so on? Face it, the US is more open and free than every middle east country put together.

Walter,do you want to put money on it?Say $10,000.The truth movement has all the scientific evidence.http://patriotsquestion911.com/

There is a new one http://www.militaryofficersfor 911truth.org/ The movement is enormous and growing expodentially.

Comment from Walter
Time November 19, 2010 at 8:43 am

Arjay, you want to bet/gamble over the deaths of thousands of people? Leaving aside the sickness of that, how will you prove this? Will you have bin Laden meet me and say all those messages, claims, boasts etc are lies? Will you have him say the earlier bombing of twin towers was not his work?

While I sometimes disagree with Mr Passant, at least he constructs an argument based on reason. How do you know this was a conspiracy? Did you read it? Did you see a video or go to a website?

Honestly, you people who sit in the comfort of a far away country and ‘claim’ to know stuff really are rather disturbed and to be feared. What if I said I have proof the Hamas flew the planes to ferment middle east war? I can prove it too – go to http://www.imadethisshitup.com

Conspiracy theories exist for toss who cannot understand or face real world actions. It’s simile Arjay, an extremist group of radicals attacked the USA, Britain, Madrid and Bali. A small group, not a religion or people. They were evil and deserved to die. We didn’t need to invade countries as a consequence.

The sceintific evidence is here http://ae911truth.org/ I have met Richard Gate it founder,Prof Steven Jones and Prof Neils Harritt.
The evidence is irrefutable and now is beginning to make mainstream media in the USA.False Flag attacks are part of our history, only this time the neo-cons have gone too far.Their treachery has been revealed.
