Well, there’s the Malaysian deal – outsourcing torture of refugees, including children, to Malaysia. And Get Up’s refusal to campaign on this issue because it would play into the hands of the Government! Excuse me? And Julian Burnside and Marion Le supporting the Nauru option instead. Both are rubbish. Don’t send any refugee overseas. Abolish mandatory detention.

John –
The last few days we have had to put up with enough visitors that I seriously wish they would all piss off home.
One thing that they have brought home to us however is that which I have always maintained.
Charity (and decency) must begin at home and we cannot do any damned good at all when people are having to live in parks and under bridges here in ‘God’s own country’.
Gillard knows this has been happening for years.
Abbott knows that too.
Brown and his greens know it.
But it appears that John Citizen (as opposed, hopefully, to John Passant) doesn’t give a stuff.
So what is this ignore-ance about fact?

Should maybe I start railing about what I discovered today about the greens and their original funding from Phil, the Greek and his pals?
Jardine Matheson. The Scottish Order, World Wildlife Fund – all that stuff?

Then aside from that unimportant issue is this absolute crapola about academics being threatened with violence for being greedy enough to pretend they Belieeeeeve in climate change.
Were any of them bumped off or even shoved around a bit a few years back when the same idiots were (eyes cast upwards) predicting a global winter?
Please someone save us from their stupidity.
They don’t need roughing up – rather a Bex, a cup of tea and a good nap.

Dear John,

I’m a Georgist, not a socialist. But anybody to the left of Genghis Khan should have thought it a bit – ahem – rich that employers were complaining about a lousy 3.4% wage increase for the low paid, especially when payroll tax and the superannuation guarantee add far more to the cost of hiring. So I got around to writing an article on making payroll tax and super more progressive: .
