Send Barnaby to Indonesia
It is a pity that Barnaby Joyce, a man of tact, diplomacy, nuance and subtlety, isn’t going to Indonesia to fix things up. I know I am disappointed that Barnaby is missing out on this great opportunity, and I am sure the Indonesians feel the same way. [Sarcasm alert.] (0)

Labor values: $3 bn for drones but even greater poverty for single parents and big cuts for Universities

According to Marc Corcoran on the ABC News website:

The Australian Defence Force is quietly resurrecting plans to buy seven huge intelligence and surveillance drones that could cost up to $3 billion. The unmanned aerial vehicles will be used for maritime surveillance and intercepting asylum seeker boats.

This is the same Labor government which has forced 90,000 single parents (90% of them women) off the single parenting payment and on to Newstart, cutting their payments by between $60 and $110 a week and ‘saving’ $207 m a year.

This is the same Labor government which has just announced $2.8 bn in cuts to universities, staff and students and which over the previous 2 years has cut a further $2 bn from higher education.

This is the same Labor government which will not tax the rich and big business.

As the Simon Sheik poster says, this is the same Labor government which spends $1 bn on offshore asylum seeker processing on Manus Island and Nauru;  $ 4 bn on mining subsidies and $13 bn on coal subsidies.

Funding the defence killing machine; attacking workers and the poor – these are Labor’s real values; these are Labor’s priorities.

Drones are used to subjugate poor nations like Pakistan or Afghanistan but now with the perception that the world is too over populated, they will be used against us.

Only a few elites will inherit the planet as ordained by their biblical manifest destiny.

Really? I didn’t know the Bible figured so prominently in the future. It is, after all, just a well-meaning load of BS written by some uneducated ancient believers.
