The rantings of Lord Latham

Just sent this to the Australian Financial Review. My chances are about as good as former columnist John Quiggin.
I have no love for Gerard Henderson, and not just because he has attacked me. But for a serious paper of the bourgeoisie to give column space to a Mark Latham diatribe against Henderson demeans the Australian Financial Review. (Mark Latham, ‘A dose of Hendo is too much’ AFR Weekend 27 December – 2 January page 53.)
This ongoing Murdochisation of the Fin may further alienate readers looking for information and analysis about their capitalist system and how it works, or often doesn’t work.
Given I write about real issues I’d make a better columnist for you than Latham, although my socialist analysis would send many of your readers into apoplexy.
As a compromise could we have that nice Mr Quiggin back again please – all the seriousness without the socialism.

Thanks John. I vaguely remember reading this at the time and thinking it needed a response, mainly because it raised the important question of democracy and socialism. I will try to write something about this soon. Comradely, John.
