Send Barnaby to Indonesia
It is a pity that Barnaby Joyce, a man of tact, diplomacy, nuance and subtlety, isn’t going to Indonesia to fix things up. I know I am disappointed that Barnaby is missing out on this great opportunity, and I am sure the Indonesians feel the same way. [Sarcasm alert.] (0)

Top ten 2013: First they came for the bikies

The increasing demonisation of the enemy within serves a purposes – to tighten State control over working people.  Here is a snippet from this very popular article on the State coming for bikies first.

The Abbott Liberal government and its State counterparts will ratchet up their strategy of vilification and demonisation against the powerless, the poor, refugees, bikies, indigenous Australians. This lays the groundwork for turning on social welfare recipients – so called dole bludgers and the like – and then on to the defensive organisations of labour, unions. They will ramp up the rhetoric of union thugs and attacks on unions.

Here is the link to the article, First they came for the bikies.

Yes, I have to agree with most of this.

The initial sentence could be expanded to read:

“The increasing demonisation of the enemy within serves a purpose – to tighten State control over working people, along with the increasing number of unemployed and underemployed Australians, not forgetting all of those the government hopes to lock out of the welfare system, including pensioners, for the benefit of their corporate mates and a thin upper crust of wealthy people. Also to have their political opponents thrown into the nuthouse. See you there…..
