Australia’s media – more sit-com than satire

I wonder if The Australian will publish this letter I sent to them?
Thank heaven for The Australian. Without it I wouldn’t have known about Tony Abbott’s triumphs at the G20 and how Obama’s bizarre speech at the University of Queensland and outrageous position on climate change have isolated the President from other world leaders.
Those bastions of left-wing lies, the ABC and Fairfax, just won’t tell us the truth.

I’m wondering if anyone else noticed the leader of a Arab nation viciously abusing Vladimir Putin during the G20.
I can’t say I agree with Paul’s last paragraph. All TV stations like to deal up their fair share of controversy to increase ratings. Most people seem to think the ABC is Leftist. Sometimes it is a bit of everything.
I fully agree with Paul’s second last paragraph.

I continually wonder, when people describe ABC news and current affairs as “even handed”.
Like SBS, It is true that parts of ABC current affairs continue to heroically work in the cause of broadsheet media and journalism for true information that a community requires to do well in a real world, but as the demise of SBS Dateline demonstrates, the real powers that be, here and offshore, have determined a different course for us than we ourselves would have chosen: the path of the Clever Country.
The people who run things want “dumb down” and a resources colony whose ignorant denizens are ripe for the plundering by financial manipulators.
The ABC News channel is the damning example of the new age, a conduit for right wing propaganda, delivered by the ignorant and those older who have been cowed by management thuggery.
