The Greek working class overwhelmingly rejects austerity

I have woken up in far away Australia to the fantastic news that the Greek working class has voted overwhemimgly to reject the austerity of the European ruling class.

There is joy in the streets of  Greece that echoes in my heart.

It is the first step. The next battle begins now, not for ‘reduced’ ¬†austerity acceptable to the bourgeoisie, but for a new vision, a new society, built on cooperation and democracy.

Thank you to the working class in Greece. You have restored hope for humanity.

Let us celebrate now and discuss and debate the way forward tomorrow.

How about building a new society based on government only spending what it collects in taxes?

If you want more spending, increase taxes. If you want lower taxes, reduce spending.

Otherwise we’ll be right back here in a couple of decades.

We won’t be back here in a few years if Greek workers replace the profit driven system with one based on satisfying human need and democracy.
