The balaclavas are back on the wharves

From Australian Unions:

Australian Unions's photo.

The balaclavas are back on the wharves.

As you probably know, 100 port workers were sacked by midnight text & email last Thursday night.

This photo was taken of a Hutchison’s-hired security guard at the Port Botany picket line yesterday. It immediately revived memories of the most iconic image of the 1998 Patrick’s waterfront dispute.

The union movement is rallying around the sacked workers. We will not be intimidated by Hutchison’s tactics – we’ve seen it all before.

For regular reports on the struggle for jobs and justice on the waterfront click this Facebook site, Maritime Union of Australia.

Wasn’t one of the arguments in favour of the NBN is that it would speed up communications?

Yet people complain if things are done via email.

You just cant please some people.

My father would turn in his grave if he knew what had become of workers’ rights on the water front. Those who still believe that unions have too much power need to pull their heads out of the sand to get a reality check.

What a dead beat comment from Mike!
