Send Barnaby to Indonesia
It is a pity that Barnaby Joyce, a man of tact, diplomacy, nuance and subtlety, isn’t going to Indonesia to fix things up. I know I am disappointed that Barnaby is missing out on this great opportunity, and I am sure the Indonesians feel the same way. [Sarcasm alert.] (0)

Me in New Matilda on Anthony Albanese, the left, unelectability and the neoliberal Australian Labor Party

This is an article by me in New Matilda on Anthony Albanese, the left, unelectability and the neoliberal Australian Labor Party.

‘The common media narrative on the ‘left’ of the Labor Party is that its leaders, like Anthony Albanese, are unelectable. John Passant disagrees, both about the electability, and the ‘left’.’

Good points about there being no proper workers’ party here in Australia at present.

I am certainly not thrilled about Anthony Albanese being a close friend of Christopher Pyne.

Rupert Murdoch may love the Coalition, but I’m sure they have only been allocated a single term of government.

I have to wonder if Malcolm Turnbull will go to election in March 2016, perhaps stating that he has decided not to increase the GST, but will financially punish Disability Support Pensioners instead.

I have also seen a segment on TV where the government is complaining about not having enough money to pay for the NDIS. For 20 years, I have known a woman who has an MA in Social Work and a disabled young adult son. She has opined that other DSP recipients should be cut off in favour of those who are moderately or severely disabled, primarily from congenital conditions.

So this tells me that increasingly older people carrying workplace injuries and suffering from serious health conditions are about to be dumped on the dole.
