Their Wars, Our Deaths: Imperialist barbarity breeds the barbarity of terrorism

Samedi 14 novembre 2015, mise à jour Samedi 14 novembre 2015, 09:22

Their war, our dead: the barbarity of terrorism that imperialism generates

Saturday, November 14, 2015, updated Saturday, November 14, 2015, 09:22

The horrific attacks that took place in Paris on Friday night, leaving more than 120 dead, dozens wounded, this blind violence, are provoking revolt and indignation. The NPA shares and expresses its solidarity with the victims, their loved ones. This tragedy is all the more shocking because it strikes at the innocent. These murderous attacks targeted the civilian population.

This abject barbarism in central Paris meets the equally blind violence and more deadly bombings perpetrated by the French air force in Syria following the decisions of Francois Hollande and his government.

These bombings are supposed to fight the Islamic State and the jihadi terrorists. In fact, with the intervention and the Russian bombings, they protect the system from those mainly responsible for the martyrdom of the Syrian people, the Assad dictatorship.

And these are also civilians who are the first victims, condemned to live under terror or flee at the risk of their lives.

Imperialist barbarism and Islamist barbarism feed each other. All this for the control of oil supplies.

In a pathetic speech, Hollande fell apart and mumbled a few words about the Republic. … He declared a state of emergency throughout the territory, saying that was the response to trampling freedoms. He was immediately supported by Sarkozy. The political authorities can thus now prohibit public meetings and control the press.

Once again, those mainly responsible for this wave of barbaric violence are calling for national unity. They are trying to turn the dramatic situation to their advantage to stifle the indignation and revolt. Why, they even have found a scapegoat, Muslims. We reject any unity with the leaders of wars, the bourgeoisie, Hollande, Sarkozy and Le Pen. We denounce racism that reinforces the State in the name of alleged “republican values” at a time when, under cover of the fight against terrorism, it is democratic rights that are threatened. We demand the lifting of the state of emergency.

The only response to wars and terrorism is the unity of workers and peoples, beyond their origins, their skin color, religions, across borders to fight against all those who want to silence and subjugate them, to end the capitalist system that breeds barbarity.

To end terrorism, we must put an end to imperialist wars aimed at perpetuating the pillage of the wealth of nations dominated by multinationals, forcing the withdrawal of French troops from all the countries where they are present, especially in Syria, Iraq , in Africa.
