Send Barnaby to Indonesia
It is a pity that Barnaby Joyce, a man of tact, diplomacy, nuance and subtlety, isn’t going to Indonesia to fix things up. I know I am disappointed that Barnaby is missing out on this great opportunity, and I am sure the Indonesians feel the same way. [Sarcasm alert.] (0)

John Howard is a war criminal

War criminals like Bush, Blair and Howard will never face any court of justice. That is for Western supported dictators who go rogue. The real justice they must face is that of the millions who said no to the war in Iraq before and while it was happening. Let’s build a mass movement that doesn’t fall like a shooting star (as the anti-Iraq War movement did, partly because the ALP supported it once troops were sent.) That means building movements against war, against racism, against Islamophobia, against attacks on unions and on living standards. Most of all it means building a vibrant fighting left. Let’s join together in the fight against war, against imperialism, against austerity, against capitalism.

It is twenty years since the election of John Howard, class warrior for the rich

History records that John Howard’s Liberals won government 20 years ago, on 2 March, 1996. His government had a ruthless class agenda, writes David Glanz in Solidarity, but it was Labor’s timid opposition that kept it in power. C’mon, John Howard deserves his order of merit from the one percent

Neoliberalism is part of Labor’s DNA, and has been since 1983. Gillard and co don’t need baubles from the Queen to tell them how they should rule for the one percent. They are doing it right now.

The International Cricket Council rejects racist warmonger

The International Cricket Council has rejected John Howard. Good. Howard is a racist warmonger who should be in leg irons before the International Court of Justice in the Hague on trial for war crimes, not running world cricket. Let’s have a  look at the man the Colonel Blimps of Australasian cricket recommended for the job of leading […]

Tony Abbott: ironing man?

What irony. Tony Abbott, fresh from slaying the Joyce dragon, has declared himself the Ironman of Australian politics. After cycling 180 kilometres, swimming 3.8 and running 42 the Leader of Her Majesty’s Opposition in Australia was moved to say: John Howard was described as a man of steel by George Bush. Margaret Thatcher was the iron […]

John Howard: can’t bat, can’t bowl

Howard’s elevation looks like an attempt by conservative white cricket elements to turn the clock back to the good ole days of empire, when those with dark skins didn’t run things – they did what they were told.

Tony Abbott: Is he Churchill or is he Spartacus?

Tony Abbott is by his own admission the political love child of Bronwyn Bishop and John Howard. With that image in mind, enjoy the rest of your day.

Keep Howard’s hands off rugby league

Don’t let John Howard workchoice rugby league. Let’s organise now to stop him destroying our game.
