Of dogs and alienation

The love of a dog is real enough. It brings joy to both owner and dog in a joyless world; love in a loveless society. It doesn’t challenge that heartless world; it at best provides an avenue for ameliorating it outside the seeming boundaries of its brutality – the workplace and the production of profit.


Success – Leo walks with me!

At last Leo has walked with me, a full 35 minutes of him smelling the roses (and other less mentionable things), running around and chasing distant birds. Leo walks, but not with me

Good news. My dog Leo went for a walk today -but not with me. My wife took him out and he didn’t flinch, argue, sit down or complain. I must be the problem! Leo presumably associates me with longer walks and being tired by the time he gets home. Let’s see if he comes out with me tomorrow.

Walking with Leo

I love walking with my dog. As we enjoy the back paddocks I talk to Leo for 35 minutes or so about politics, economics and life in general. He is a good listener. Leo is a golden retriever and nearly 9 years old.  He has begun refusing to walk.  The vet says he is fine physically.So we think it […]
