Send Barnaby to Indonesia
It is a pity that Barnaby Joyce, a man of tact, diplomacy, nuance and subtlety, isn’t going to Indonesia to fix things up. I know I am disappointed that Barnaby is missing out on this great opportunity, and I am sure the Indonesians feel the same way. [Sarcasm alert.] (0)

CFMEU statement on the politically motivated arrest of union organiser John Lomax

The arrest of ACT CFMEU official John Lomax for trying to negotiate better pay and conditions for workers is an absolute disgrace, according to CFMEU National Construction Secretary Dave Noonan.
Mr Lomax was told by police that he was accused of forcing an employer to enter into an EBA and that as a result the employer suffered financial loss due to paying workers higher wages. Mr Noonan said that the government was criminalising the work of unions. “The criminal jurisdiction is not the domain of industrial matters and this is nothing but another vicious political attack on unions and the right to defend and improve pay and conditions for working people.”

The only illegals I see are in Abbott’s government

Why are the Australian Federal Police not prosecuting the illegals, the rorters, on Abbott’s frontbench, including Abbott himself?

We truly live in an upside down world. Poor, powerless asylum seekers who have committed no crime are called illegals while those in power who have rorted the parliamentary expenses system are exempt from prosecution.

The criminalisation of dissent

Next time, to beat the cops back, we need thousands upon thousands of protesters. Partly that will happen when the economic crisis arrives in Australia. But partly it is the task of socialists to point out the need to build an organisation of the working class to take on the one percent and free the rest of us from our economic slavery.

It is and will be a hard road. But we are in this for the long haul. Join us in the fight for a world where all are equal and we share democratically in the wealth we as workers create.
